Client: National Assembly for Wales Office: BRISTOL Project Value: £41m
This project involved the construction of the new Senedd national assembly government building as part of the 2,700 acre Cardiff Bay urban development scheme.
The building was designed to provide an open and inviting public space, as well as secure private space. The building has three levels with a public café and galleries overlooking the debating chamber and committee rooms.
Northcroft provided full Cost Managment services.
Awards
Winner of the RICS Wales 2006 Sustainability Award, the project has been commended as "an outstanding example of practical sustainability emanating from the commitment of the client. The end result is an ispired and intelligently designed buiding which embodies the best in sustainable solutions."
The National Assembly building has been awarded a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Rating - boasting the highest score ever achieved by a BREEAM assessed development in Wales. This puts the new assembly building in the highest category of sustainable design in the UK.
